Sphinx Cant Cross That Bridge....
by Randy Forder at Sphinx Drive
Coventry Sphinx 1 v 1 Bridgnorth Town
A damp dour day reflected the game itself, Sphinx were dealt a blow in the 10th minute when Tomczak was replaced by Donaldson due to a dislocated shoulder. Sphinx had the better of the first with Aaron Donaldson causing havoc down the right with one fierce drive deflected away when it was goal bound. Luke Williams also had a 30 yard drive spectacularly saved by the Visiting Bridgnorth keeper.
Sphinx got on the scoresheet after 38 minutes when a long throw from Ruff found the head of Edwards who flicked the ball over the keeper and into the net.
The second half was very much role reversals with Bridgnorth having the majority of play but like Sphinx in the first half not creating to much to worry O’Neill in the Sphinx goal.
They only effort on goal brought them level with a 56th minute strike from Guryan which crashed in off the bar and post. That was pretty much it until the final minutes when Jack Edwards effort from outside the box smacked off the post and way to safety.
Overall a draw was a fair result and though 2nd placed Westfield's lost to Tividale Sphinx will say this is 2 points lost rather than a point gained…..
