Coventry Sphinx F.C. is proud to announce that Wayne Whitehouse has taken over from Nigel Starkey as Youth Team Manager. Wayne like Nigel before him has taken his team through under 8’s to under 16’s and now into the Youth Team.
In his time with his junior side he was ably assisted by Jez Tiff and they led there team too many success’s including winning the Bedworth Nursing Cup three years in succession. Jez Tiff stepped down in the final season to support his son in his refereeing ambitions.
Wayne hold’s a UEAFA ‘B’ licence and his philosophy of playing football the Sphinx way will undoubtedly mean that some of these youngster will be pulling on a 1st team jersey in the not to distance future.
Many lads from previous Youth Teams have admirably stepped up to the 1st team and with some going onto bigger and better things none more so than Callum Woodward who last season went on to play at Wembley in the F.A. Vase with Coalville losing 3-2 to holders Whitley Bay.
Others to make the step up to the 1st team to name but a few include Liam Kay, Jamie McAteer, Adam Knibbs, Luke Hopkins, Dion Barrett, Craig Goodbody and more recently Adam Billic, Paulo Razza, Dan Fraser, Tom Bryce, Tom Rawlings and Chris O’Shea from last year’s Youth Side.
Wayne said “I am excited and proud to make the step up to Youth team Manager for a club that is steeped in encouraging youngster to make the step up to Men’s football. It will be good to lock horns with new clubs, visit new grounds and pit our wits in a very good hard league. “
